Lee sets aside $45M to turn hundreds of McDonald Farm acres into a state park
After years of deliberation about what Hamilton County should do with McDonald Farm, officials have landed on an answer: turn much of its acreage into a state park.
"We're a state that people come to for a lot of reasons," Watson said. "In East Tennessee, they come because of the land and all of the outdoor activities that we have here. This will serve as a base camp."
The park will be No. 70 for the state, Watson said, completing Lee's goal to reach that number by the end of his term, which wraps up in 2026.
